A key part of the metal manufacturing process is the bonding of unique components and materials to form a stronger or more functional final product. PMI is able to accommodate your needs through the use of AWS certified brazers who are highly skilled in all types of metal joining and bonding.

Brazing has many advantages over other metal-joining techniques, and can produce simple, economical results that other processes can’t create.

Dip Brazing and Joining Services

PMI offers full metal bonding services, including Spot, MIG welding, and TIG welding, as well as adhesive bonding, soldering, and riveting. Our experts can recommend the joining/bonding method most suitable for your needs.

Dip brazing joins separate parts without melting the base metals of each piece using an extremely high temperature filler metal (liquidus temperature of over 840 degrees Fahrenheit). The close fit of the joint is created by distributing the filler metal along the bond through capillary action.

Brazing is a solution we choose for many situations, including:

  • Complex assemblies that demand economical joints
  • Simple bonds over large areas
  • Bonds between metals and nonmetals
  • Bonds between materials with coatings, claddings, or finishes that need to be preserved
  • Precision parts
  • Joints which combine vastly different thicknesses or types of materials
  • Components that may need to be taken apart in the future

Since brazing does not melt the base metal of the joint, it allows much tighter control over tolerances. It produces a clean joint without the need for secondary finishing, and offers balanced distribution of heat and stress, even between dissimilar materials.

These bonds are high strength and can be processed in batches if needed.

Industries and Specialties

Dip brazing is especially suited for brazing aluminum — air is excluded from the brazing process, thus preventing the formation of oxides. Almost every part of the manufacturing marketplace utilizes some form of brazing.

PMI specializes in Aluminum Dip Brazed assemblies for a variety of industries, including:

  • Defense/Military
  • Medical
  • Aerospace/Avionics
  • Energy
  • Electronic enclosures
  • Custom projects
